Where did this summer go? It seems like only a week ago the snow had melted and I was able to go frolick outside and enjoy the quasi-nice weather. Oh wait, I wasn’t able to do much frolicking because I spent most of my summer working. Granted, working on the weekends and most other times isn’t so bad if you can do it under a bunch of blankets in front of a fireplace while it’s gross and thunderstormy outside, or if you have some furry company.
I shouldn’t complain though. In between bouts of working 24/7 I did take a trip to Jamiaca a couple months ago, and I just spent a weekend in NYC with my sister. More importantly, my big-ass work project is coming to a close and my company has a retreat planned for this week so I am going to be able to enjoy — for some of the time anyway — disconnecting from the Internet in T-minus 24 hours.
I’d say I had a pretty good long weekend too. I still had to make time for work of course, but I otherwise enjoyed the awesome OK weather while it lasted, visited some old friends and my fam to plan a birthday shindig for my Dad, attempted to make “healthy(ish)” brownies, s’mores, and was otherwise chillaxed and happy.
You might not be able to tell, but these are spinach brownies. (Or maybe you can, a friend swore he could see little flecks of green in it). I think we used a little too much applesauce because they ended up being smushy-er than they were probably supposed to.
My latest discovery: s’mores flavoured chocolate. I tried adding this to a s’more I made.. it was good, but it didn’t change my life or anything. I would much rather put a Reeses PB cup in there. Just my 2 cents.
A terrible, terrible iPhone pic of a recent fortune. Which I’m pretty sure implies that fun times are ahead at this retreat.
