The sticky, humid, oppresive air is FINALLY GONE from the city, thanks to a couple days of rain. I survived by keeping a little travel hairspray on my long walks to work and drinking lots of fluids to stay hydrated. Maybe too many fluids.
To counter the couple nights of post-work hydration with friends I’ve been trying to keep up with the whole healthy eating thing. When I feel like something sweet I toss a random assortment of nuts and dried fruit in a bowl and hope for the best. It hasn’t failed me yet and since I’ve been focusing on eating better I’m noticing I feel a lot better too — I don’t always need the afternoon coffee I used to, I’m much more focused at work and I’m not craving junk as much when I come home, which used to be an everyday occurrence (especially when stressed!).
I’ve been keeping up with the physical activity too, although maybe not as often as I should be. We bought a ping pong table for the office and it arrived this week so now I can add a daily round of ping pong to my list of activities. I can also safely say that productivity hasn’t changed much since we bought it… mostly because it’s already low due to the World Cup and people scheduling meetings around game times. Oops, haha.
Today, I’m at the beach taking advantage of the nice weather since I spent my morning working my butt off on this project (and crossing off an item from my summer bucket list). It’s slowly but surely coming to a close and I couldn’t be freaking happier. Only a couple more weeks to go and I can have a normal life outside of work again!
